Getting to know football maestro Siphesihle Nzimande

Nov 19, 2015 @ 08:00:00

On this #ThrowBackThurday we delve in the world of young, dynamic, talented player who has been scoring goals for City left, right and center. The dynamite Siphesihle Nzimande who is soft spoken opens up about an injury that cost him a season-full unplanned holiday at home while his career was only starting to take off.

Q: Who is Siphesihle?

A: Siphesihle is from Durban in Ntuzuma and i’m 24 years old. I’m into a lot of Gospel music especially when at camp, because it motivates me...When i’m back in Durban i listen to a lot of Durban house music.

Q: The festive break is fast approaching, how will you be spending your time?

A: I have a tournament under my name that i will be running.

Q: Details...?

A: It will be on 26-27 December in Ntuzume at the TM Stadium...Anyone around Durban who is interested can come and try their luck. But unfortunately we can only take boys for now...

Q: How did you get into football?

A: I started playing football at an early age in primary school time i graduated from high school. Then Golden Arrows scouted me while playing in my neibourhood when i was 18 years old. After that i stayed home for a season after an injury. The after recovery i came for trials at City and then they signed me. And like they say, the rest is history...

Q: Who is your local football icon, dead or alive?

A: It has to be Lesley Manyathela and Gift Lereni

Q: Internationally?

A: Didier Drogba

Q: What has been your best career goal?

A: The deciding goal that i scored against Roses United that gained us promotion into the PSL

Q: What mark would you like to leave when you retire from football?

A: I would like to be remembered for all the good work i do and also for the fact that i am respectable, simply because when my career is done (which it will inevitably) i will still go back home and i expect a warm reception.

Q: What do you enjoy about playing for City?

A: Definitely, without hesitation i have to say the treatment that i get from everyone here is overwhelming, in a good way.

Q: Which player do you spend most of your time with in camp and why?

A: Sipho Jembula. We have the same characteristics...

Q: What are the advantages of being a striker?

A: Definitely scoring and creating goals...

Q: Disadvantages?

A: Not scoring goals in consecutive games.

Let’s now look at your exciting journey in #MDC so far...

Q: Second best goal scorer so far, how does that make you feel?

A: I feel happy but i know i would be leading the pack if it wasn’t of the three games i missed while reporting for 1st team duties.

Q: your last answer, are you throwing shade to the current leading goal scorer? *chuckles*

A: Definitely not...*Chuckles*

Q: What role do you think Coach Jacky played?

A: He played a major role and he’s also great to work with. There’s time for jokes and time to be serious, i’m humbled to be working with him.

Q: Six goals do far, what’s your target for the second half?

A: To be the leading goal scorer...

Q: What has been your memorable moment in MDC?

A: The hat-trick i scored against chiefs. And amongst those goals there’s a goal i scored that has been dubbed the goal of the season.

Q: Where would you like City to finish come end of the season?

A: 1st spot...I would like us to win that overseas trip that the winners of the leagues walk away with.

Q: How do people get in touch with you?

A: i’m on only on Facebook (details bellow)
