Mayala: We want to end the year on a high note

Nov 27, 2015 @ 11:24:16

Polokwane city Assistant coach says he wants the team to go into the Christmas break on a high note “We take every match very seriously but the one we playing with Golden Arrows on the 19th of December is very crusial and we will make sure we collect maxim points. You must not forget that Arrows have been performing very well this season so we will go into this encounter guns blazing”

Mayala who has been on the helm since the departure of former coach Kostadin Papic and even with the recent singing of the new coach, Julio Leal, who is waiting a working permit, Mayala has managed to collect two straight wins this season with City’s last two encounters.

He is adamant that all is well in camp but the space between City’s last game and the next one is a disadvantage to the players “Preparations are going very well, just that i’m worried with so much time between our last and next match, this is not even about players having more time to train, because our last match was a win and the moral is high and so we want to keep the momentum.”

The Assistant coach also alluded to the fact that the team had a very shaky start to the season “Look, even though our players were performing well, the results were just not coming. But i believe that now all is in order and we will be winning more games. In fact when we come back from the break i would like to see us working for a top 6 or top 4 spot”

Asked about the areas of concern he’s currently focusing on in camp Mayala had this to say “We don’t want to single out any area of concern but what i can assure you is that, we want to improve, we know that at the beginning of the season we conceded a lot of goals and were struggling a bit to score. With Maritzburg United we scored three goals but conceded two but when we played Platinum stars we scored and did not concede so we are in the right path.”

Polokwane City are taking on Golden Arrows at the Chatsworth Stadium on the 19th of December 2015 and kick-off is 15:30.
