Jan 17, 2016 @ 02:05:00

Thobani Mncwango scored all four goals to see Polokwane City crush Supersport United 4-1 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

The mileston by Mncwango is the first feet in over 3 years since a player has netted four times in a match since Bernard Parker did so for Kaizer Chiefs against AmaZulu in 2012.

Jeremy Brockie scored Supersport’s solace goal as they saw their unbeaten streak broken at six matches.

City got off to a great start when Mncwango beat Willams with a brilliant diving header to make it 1-0.

At just 16 minutes of kick-off Rise and Shine were leading 2-0 thanks to a left-footed shot by Thobani Mncwango to make it a brace.

However, in the 26th minute, New Zealand International striker Jeremy Brockie hit back with a left-footed finish after combining with Clayton Daniels.

Midfeilder, Nazir Jacobs took a shot in the 33rd minute but Bafana shot-stopper, Williams came to the rescue.

Supersport United coach Gordon Igesund gave new signing Mark Mayambela his debut at the start of the second-half to go in for Lakay before David Mathebula would also be added to the mix.

In the dying minutes of the match Coach Igesund replaced defender Luvuyolwethu Mpeta with forward Bradley Grobler but that change failed to produce desired results with City extending their advantage to 4-1 after two further goals Mncwango in the 82th and 88th minutes.

Rise and Shine are 13th on the table with 15 points from 14 games - three points behind eighth-placed Free State Stars.
