Coach Leal on #NedbankCup: Everyone will feel our presence in this competition

Mar 01, 2016 @ 13:28:50

In just over 24 hours the Nedbank Cup – the only tournament that accommodates some of the country’s household names against lesser known clubs from amateur structures – will kick-off.

The Cup competition will kick of tomorrow evening with Santos welcoming Mthatha Bucks at the Athlone Stadium and Maritzburg United hosts Limpopo side, Black Leopards at the Harry Gwala Stadium. Both matches will kick-off at 19h30.

Polokwane City will be welcoming ABC Motsepe side, Africa All stars at the Peter Mokaba stadium on Sunday for a 15h00 Kick-off.

Head Coach, Julio Leal says he is excited about competition “The #NedbankCup is always exciting because it is the last competition of the season making this coming match a very crucial one.”

“We are using the #NedbankCup calendar to improve the team’s moral and otherwise. We also use this time to experiment formations and all the systems to play in the league as well.”

“In whatever we do, we have to keep in mind that we have a cup game on Sunday and the Wednesday after that we have a league match with Bidvest Wits. There is definitely pressure to produce results but we will be moving, mixing and changing things up by giving those who haven’t been fielded a chance to represent the club with some game time.”

Coach Leal also spoke about the intense training that the team is currently enduring “We are currently having a 10-day intense training where we will be focusing on areas that needs most of our attention but our primary focus is at the back.”

“The idea here is to advance in this competition and if we go up to the finals that would be great so that we can use all the dates, because when there is the #NedbankCup there is no competition and it is always difficult to find friendly matches to play”

The only setbacks in camp are that of goalkeeper, Pule Konopi’s injury. He had a knee injury but has been through to the medical department and is now at the fitness department and training with team during his time of recovery.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) has announced that tickets are now on sale and members of the public can now book their seats.

Tickets can be purchased at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers stores nationwide for R40 for adults and R10 for children under the age of 12.
