Polokwane City eager to get back to winning ways

Apr 15, 2016 @ 09:27:03

Polokwane City will look to break their dry spell in the Absa Premiership when they host Chippa United at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on 16 April 2016, kick-off at 15h00.

#RiseAndShine suffered a 3-1 defeat at home to Mamelodi Sundowns on April 13, extending their winless run in the league to seven matches.

The Limpopo side has claimed 17 points from 12 home matches this season and are placed 13th on the Absa Premiership log with 23 points from 24 matches.

Polokwane City head coach, Julio Leal is adamant the home side will collect maximum points “There has been exceptional football skills shown by the players in the last few games but unfortunately luck has not been on our side”

“Without a doubt, the remainder fixture will bare results for us only if the players continue showing the same hunger and drive”

Meanwhile Chippa played to a third successive draw in the league when they were held 1-1 at SuperSport United on April 10.

The Eastern Cape side has claimed 11 points from 12 away matches this season and thus the Chilli Boys are placed seventh on the Absa Premiership log with 34 points from 24 matches.

In head-to-head stats, Chippa and Polokwane have met in three previous top flight matches.

Each side has one win to their name in the rivalry, while one match has been drawn.

Polokwane’s only previous home league clash with Chippa saw them claim a 3-1 in the first half of last season.

When the teams met earlier this season, the Chilli Boys claimed a 2-1 home win in the Eastern Cape.

The teams’ three league encounters have produced a total of nine goals.

Tickets are already available at Computicket/Shoprite/Checkers nationwide at R40.
